Women's Tennis Falls to UT Martin

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s tennis team opened the weekend with a 4-0 setback to UT Martin Saturday afternoon from George Ward Park.
UT Martin built a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The UAB duo of Pardis Kianoush and Reghan Lynch earned a 6-2 win over Sarah Candeloro and Jemima Potter at No. 1.
Elina Geut gave the Skyhawks a 2-0 advantage when she was awarded a singles victory at No. 6 after Natalie Voss was injured and unable to finish the match. Asel Jumamukhambetova turned in a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lynch at No. 4 to put UT Martin ahead 3-0.
Andrea Plantada Cortes defeated Taylor Factor 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 to clinch the win for the Skyhawks.
UAB returns to action Sunday at noon when the Blazers host Tulane from George Ward Park.
