UAB Splits on Day Two of Austin Peay Invitational

CLARKESVILLE, Tenn. – The UAB beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday at the Governors Beach Tournament hosted by Austin Peay.
The Blazers (9-14) opened the day with a 3-2 loss to ULM. Emily Martinez and Kenley Adams on court three and Rachel Evans and Kalah Jones on court five registered victories.
Evans and Jones won in three sets in a very closely connected match. The Blazer duo won the first set 21-13, but ULM took the second 27-25. In the third and final set, Evans and Jones were able to register a 15-13 victory to claim the match.
UAB then defeated Austin Peay for the fourth time this season with a 5-0 victory to conclude the tournament. In four matches against APSU this season, the Blazers have won 19 of 20 matches.
The Blazers won every match in straight sets and finished the weekend at 3-1 overall.
UAB concludes the regular season next weekend when the Blazers host their second tournament of the season at Blazer Beach. UAB welcomes Lincoln Memorial, New Mexico and UT Martin next Friday and Saturday.
