GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After 36 holes on Saturday at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, the UAB men's golf team is in 11th heading into Sunday's final round at the Mark Bostick Golf Club.
R.J. Keur and William Walker are both tied for 33rd overall at two over par which leads the Blazers. Keur battled to shoot a 71 during both rounds, while Walker shot a two over in the opening round, followed by a one under 69 in the second round.
"We had a lot of good golf today but need to complete a team effort tomorrow to move up the leaderboard," head Coach Mike Wilson said. "If we play as we are capable tomorrow we can finish in the top half of a very competitive field."
Sophomore Murray Naysmith is third on the team at four over with a 75-69-144, which was highlighted by a one under 69 in the second round.
John Hayden shot an even par 70 in the opening round followed by a six-over 76 in the second round, while freshman John Racciatti opened his day on fire at two under through nine, and finished his first 18 holes at one-over, but followed up with an 81 in the second round and finds himself in a tie for 80th overall.
Vanderbilt, who is the highest ranked team in the field, leads the way at eight under par, while Florida is one shot behind at seven under. Individually, Claudio Correa of USF is the leader in the club house at -6.
