HOUSTON – The No. 13 UAB bowling team moved up one spot on the second day of the SFA Jack's Invitational to sit in 11th place going into the third and final day.
"We definitely had a more consistent day today and had better shot making than yesterday," head coach Michelle Crews said. "We just didn't catch any big games today which hurt our pinfall. Today we knew we were going to face the hardest part of our schedule but the girls put forth their best effort and we look forward to match play tomorrow."
UAB opened the day with a loss to No. 16 Long Island-Brooklyn in game one before falling to No. 9 in the second game. Match three was a tough loss to No. 1 Nebraska but game four was a 919-855 win over No. 17 North Carolina A&T. The Blazers ended the day with a loss to No. 3 Arkansas State.
Taylor Russell continued her strong season bowling three 200+ games and finished the individual tournament in 21st overall. The Mississippi native has appeared in every game for the Green and Gold this season.
Samantha Johnson also sits inside the top-50 bowling a 189.20 average over five games and finished 43rd overall.
Sunday features three best-of-seven Baker matches with UAB set to face LA Tech in the first game.
McKendree suffered its first loss of the tournament but still sits atop of the leaderboard over undefeated Nebraska.
