UAB Falls to Louisville in First Game of the Red and Black Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UAB drops its first game of the Red and Black Classic to Louisville 15-0 in five innings Thursday night at Ulmer Stadium.

Louisville (11-4) put four runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning on three hits to take a 4-0 lead. The Cardinals added just one run in the bottom of the second.

In the home half of the third, the Cardinals put seven runs on the board on seven hits to take a 12-0 lead.

UAB (6-12) loaded the bases in the top of the fourth inning as Katelyn Prater drew a walk and Haleigh Sisson reached on an error by the shortstop. Katlyn Sides recorded the Blazers' second hit of the game on a single up the middle which loaded the bases with two out.

The Blazers were unable to push anyone across as the inning ended on a ground out.

Louisville put three more runs in the bottom half of the fourth with a solo shot over the left field wall, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.

Freshman Bailie Barnes got the start and pitched a complete game suffering the loss and falls to 1-2 on the year.
