BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a performance in which it knocked off seven top-25 teams and finished with a 10-3 record at Arkansas State's Mid-Winter Invitational, the UAB bowling team returns to the lanes to take part in the Kutztown Invitational.
The event will be held Jan. 18-19 in Limerick, Pa. and is hosted by Kutztown University.
"We are excited to head north to to Pennsylvania, as this is another one of our favorite events of the year," head coach Michelle Crews said. "We have a tough weekend ahead of us but we plan to keep the momentum going from our great showing last weekend."
The No. 20 Blazers will take on nine top-25 ranked teams, including four on Friday and five on Saturday.
Friday's schedule sees the Green and Gold matched up against No. 13 Delaware State, No. 21 Adelphi, Chestnut Hill, No. 17 Monmouth and No. 25 Kutztown. UAB begins Saturday with two top-10 matches against No. 10 Stephen F. Austin and No. 9 St. Francis (Pa.) before facing off against No. 23 Duquesne, No. 7 Fairleigh Dickinson and No. 16 Sacred Heart.
UAB sits in first place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in its first year in the league and looks to improve on its 9-1 conference mark with two league matchups over the weekend.
Redshirt junior Caitlin Cunningham paces the Blazers with a collective pin-fall of 4,958, averaging 198.32 while notching nine 200+ performances.
Following this Kutztown Invitational, the Blazers will head to Orlando, Fla. to take part in the Sunshine State Winter Classic Feb. 8-10.
