BIRMINGHAM – The UAB softball team returns to Mary Bower Field for the three-day UAB Softball Invite, hosting Nicholls State, Alabama State and Eastern Illinois this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 26-28.
UAB was scheduled to play two games on Friday, but as a result of expected weather in the morning, the Blazers will now just play one. Below is the updated schedule:
Friday, Feb. 26
4 p.m. - Nicholls State vs. Alabama State
6:30 p.m. - Eastern Illinois vs. UAB
Saturday, Feb. 27
11 a.m. - Eastern Illinois vs. Alabama State
1:30 p.m. - Eastern Illinois vs. UAB
4 p.m. - Nicholls State vs. Alabama State
6:30 p.m. - Nicholls State vs. UAB
Sunday, Feb. 28
10 a.m. - Eastern Illinois vs. Nicholls State
12:30 a.m. - Alabama State vs. UAB
3 p.m. - Alabama state vs. UAB

LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers (4-5) are coming off a 7-1 loss at No. 4 Alabama on Wednesday night. UAB was able to get three runs against the Crimson Tide, led by Jenna Olszewski with two.
Olszewski was the only Blazer to score in matchup, driven in by a KK Crocker RBI groundout in the bottom of the third.
It was the second straight Top-10 opponent UAB has faced. The Blazers hosted No. 9 Louisiana on Feb. 21, falling to the Rajin' Cajuns 8-2.
GET A HIT
Analyse Petree ranks No. 1 in C-USA for runs scored (9), and is also No. 4 in league with 10 hits, tied with teammate Sam Bean.
As a team, the Blazers lead C-USA in hit by pitches this season (12). Bean and Sierra Frazier have each been hit a conference-high 3 times.

Senior Parker Conrad is coming off a five strikeout in 2.1 innings pitching performance at No. 4 Alabama. She currently has a 2.25 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched.

Freshmen Olivia Valbak and Sophie Golliver, who have combined for 5.1 inning pitched, currently have a 0 ERA. Jaycee Cook, who started against the Crimson Tide, has a 1.85 ERA in 11 innings pitched and eight strikeouts.

NICHOLLS STATE
The Colonels enter the weekend with a 4-3 record. Nicholls State has already played two C-USA opponents that the Blazers will play later this season. They recorded a 9-7 win over North Texas on Feb. 13 and a 6-3 win over Southern Miss on Feb. 19. One of their top pitchers is Jordan Moon, who has .72 ERA in 9.2 innings pitched. Moon has started two games and made three appearances.
EASTERN ILLINOIS
The Panthers (6-1) enter the game coming off a 5-4 win over Louisiana Monroe. They share one common opponent with UAB so far: Louisiana. Eastern Illinois fell to the No. 7 Rajin' Cajuns 9-0 on Feb. 23, their only loss of the season. Offensively, one of the Panthers' top hitter is Hannah Cravens who is batting .579 and has a team-high five home runs.
ALABAMA STATE
The Hornets arrive in the Magic City with an 1-7 record. Their last game was Feb. 21 vs. Evansville where they fell 5-1. Alabama State also played Alabama this season, falling to the No. 8 Crimson Tide 10-0 at the Stinger Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
