BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team won a pair of thrilling 3-2 matches over Central Arkansas and ULM on Saturday to conclude the Blazer Beach Bash.
UAB (12-13, 5-9 CCSA) was propelled by a three set victory on court one in both matches to clinch the victories over the Bears and the Warhawks.
The five conference wins are the most in school history and UAB now heads to the CCSA Tournament next weekend in Huntsville.
UAB 3, Central Arkansas 2:
The Blazers used a three set victory on court one from Rachel Tam and Mikayla Law-Heese to give UAB a 3-2 victory.
Dylynn Otte and Emma Andraka gave UAB its first point of the day with a three-set victory on court four. That was followed by Jenna Gathright and Sarah Dickson making quick work of the Bears on court three, 21-9, 21-14 to give the Blazers a 2-1 lead.
UCA tied it up with a three set victory on court two, leaving all eyes on court one. With the third set tied 7-7, Tam and Law-Heese scored six straight points to take control of the game and eventually won the set 15-8.
