Cross Country Finishes Top Ten in Blazer Classic

MONTEVALLO – The UAB Cross Country team finished their last regular season meet with a top 10 finish in the Blazer Classic. The Green and Gold closed out with a sixth-place finish out of 16 teams and had three top-20 finishers in their home meet.

"The team did a great job executing the plan today, and we saw lots of improvement from the previous race at Loyola. The weather was perfect for a cross country meet," said head coach Maryn Lowry. "Lauren Charlton leads our team with Kyra Hayes behind her. Lauren Robinson did a great job of focusing mid-race on helping the team's overall finish. We will take this momentum and keep building on it as we approach the conference meet in two weeks."

The Blazers started in stride, with Lauren Charlton leading the pack for the Blazers early. Kyra Hayes was not too far behind, keeping a steady pace in the first few thousand meters. Charlton and Hayes remained up front, followed by Lauren Robinson in the bulk of the pack.

Charlton finished fourth overall with a time of 21:28.80, followed by Hayes in ninth place with a time of 21:55. Robinson rounded out the top three Blazer finishers with a time of 22:24.10. All Blazers finished in the top 100 for the 6K.
