Beach Volleyball Splits on Final Day of GSU Diggin’ Duals

ATLANTA – The UAB beach volleyball team split a pair of matches with the University of Tampa and Georgia State on the final day of the GSU Diggin' Duals to conclude the weekend at 3-1 overall.
UAB (11-16) opened the day with a 4-1 victory over Tampa, and fell to conference rival and 13th-ranked Georgia State 4-1 in the tournament finale.
Rachel Tam and Adriana Pereira won both of their matches on court one, and in the process, Tam became the UAB career leader for court one victories with 29.
Tam has played every match of her two year career on court one and has compiled an overall record of 29-24. She and Pereira are 15-11 this season together and have won eight matches in a row.
Ella Alexander and Jessica Ennis finished the weekend with a 3-1 record on court five. Alexander is now 16-11 overall this year and her 16 single-season wins has moved her into the top 10 for single season wins at UAB.
UAB hosts its only home tournament of the season next weekend with the Blazer Beach Bash set for Friday and Saturday, April 15-16. UAB welcomes Mercer, North Alabama and ULM to Blazer Beach beginning Friday at 12 p.m.
