Late Goal Lifts USF to 1-0 Victory Over UAB

BIRMINGHAM – Signe Markvardsen scored the only goal of the contest to lead South Florida to a 1-0 victory over UAB on Thursday night.
With the setback, UAB falls to 4-4-4, 0-1-3 AAC on the year. Keeper Eve Beyer faced 15 shots and turned away five Bulls attempts. Carlyn Presley, Jessica Wheeler and Abbey Burns each had one shot on target.
UAB had an opportunity in the 40th minute when Wheeler fed Presley, but a USF defender almost headed the ball into her own net. In the 71st minute, Presley found a breaking Morgan Halliwill on the left side, but she pushed her shot wide left.
"Our performance was top class tonight. Everybody on USF is an elite-lever player," said head coach Lisa Mann. "We came with a gameplan and the girls executed it to every single detail that we asked. Unfortunately making one error against a team of that talent, they will capitalize on any mistake you make."
The Blazers remain at home to PNC Field Oct. 12 against UTSA.

This card is not valid for American Athletic Conference or NCAA Championship events.

Blazer Buddies is the new official kids club of UAB Athletics and is open to all kids ages 12 and under. Blazer Buddies will receive a Blazer Buddies Kids Club ID which grants admission to all home men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, softball, and baseball games.
