UAB Hosts North Texas on Education Day

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team hosts North Texas in its annual Education Day on Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 11 am.
UAB LATELY
UAB (10-12, 2-11 C-USA) has dropped four straight and is coming off an 84-81 setback to FIU on Feb. 4. The Blazers are 6-4 at Bartow Arena this season.
NORTH TEXAS LATELY
North Texas (9-13, 6-6 C-USA) have won three straight contests since their home loss to UAB on Jan. 23. The Mean Green are 3-9 on the road this season.
UAB AND NORTH TEXAS HISTORY
The series began in 2000 as part of the Air Force Classic. In total, the teams have met 16 times, with UNT holding an 10-6 advantage. They have played in the Conference USA Championship once, 2017. UNT leads at Bartow Arena 4-3.
LAST TIME AGAINST NORTH TEXAS
Down 37-20 in the 3rd quarter, the UAB women's basketball team fought back to steal a victory, 76-74 at the Super Pit on Jan. 23, 2023. The Blazers scored 56 2nd half points and were led by the backcourt duo of Denim DeShields and Margaret Whitley, who scored 16 points each. Maria Roters recorded a double-double of 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Sara Bershers added 12 points in her second consecutive start.

American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The move will be official on July 1, 2023.
