MONTGOMERY, Ala. – UAB (15-32) dropped its mid-week matchup against Alabama State (34-15) by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday, May 9.

UAB entered the seventh inning down 5-0 after ASU held the Blazers scoreless through six innings, but UAB went on a five-run rally to tie the game as it entered in the late innings. Brayton Brown led-off with his first triple of the year then scored off an RBI single from Tyler Waugh to start the Blazers' rally. An RBI ground out and a double from David Harris brought in two more runs to put runners on the corners before Logan Braunschweig hit into a two-run single which tied the game. ASU picked up a single run in the bottom half of the inning to retake the lead. UAB failed to score any runs before the final three outs.

Braxton Shelton started on the mound and spent three and one third innings to allow five runs – earned – on seven hits with three strikeouts. Shelton was relieved by Carson Knight, Thomas Ballard, Leo Harris and JC Sewell. Ballard (1-1) received the loss after he allowed the go-ahead run for ASU. Knight, Harris and Sewell all threw shutout innings and collected a combined five strikeouts.
