UAB Finishes 10th at Crimson Classic Despite Tough Field

TUSCALOOSA - UAB Cross Country finished 10th as a team in the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa on Friday morning. Seven power conference teams were part of the women's race.
Several Blazers finished with a better time in this year's race despite a longer course. Last year, the course was 5.846k meters, while this year's course was 5.926k meters. Lia Castillo (1:49), Lidia Longo (1:38), Anna Behmer (1:15), Katie Keur (0:28), and Kyra Hayes (0:14) all set their personal bests for the course.
Four Blazers finished in the top 100 of the race. Katie Keur finished 37th at 20:44. Lidia Longo took the second spot for the Blazers at 21:24, finishing 72nd. Kyra Hayes (89th) and Lia Castillo (93rd) anchored the third and fourth spots at 21:44 and 21:50 respectively. Sangie Lincoln-Velez, Anna Behmer, and Kenlie Nelson wrapped up the scoring for UAB.
The Blazers return to action on November 2 as they travel to the AAC Cross Country Championships in Wichita, KS at L.W. Clapp Park.
