2024 Hall of Fame Spotlight: Izell Reese

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Department of Athletics will be inducting former UAB football great Izell Reese into the Hall of Fame this Friday, Nov. 1 as one of five members of the Class of 2024.
A standout safety for the Blazers, Reese was one of the all-time great defenders in UAB history. From 1994-97, he tallied 276 tackles, which is the eighth most in school history, while his 180 career solo tackles rank him third all-time. He is also top 10 in career interceptions, ranking tied for ninth with seven.
Reese was selected in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, becoming just the second UAB player ever drafted. He would play seven years in the NFL with three different teams and compiled 226 career tackles, eight interceptions and 19 passes defended.

The UAB Department of Athletics will honor five individuals including Izell Reese at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony at The Florentine on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Tickets to the event must be pre-purchased by clicking here. The last day to buy tickets for the induction ceremony is Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The UAB Department of Athletics will recognize five Blazer legends during UAB Football's Homecoming game against Tulsa on Saturday, Nov. 2. Tickets to the homecoming game can be purchased by clicking here with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
