UAB Volleyball Ends Season at AAC Tournament

WICHITA, Kan. - The UAB Volleyball Team had their season ended at the hands of South Florida in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament by a score of 3-1.
Set one and two went to South Florida as they came out hot hitting .361. The Blazers out-served the AAC leaders 8-5 with Kelsey Smith and Jorda Crook leading the way. UAB tied the score twice in the second set, but the Bulls were too much.
Down two sets to zero, the Blazers had to fight back to keep their season alive. UAB stormed back in set three, dominating the block category 14-8. The Blazers own the set 25-13 completely flipping the Bulls. Madison Page added a career high 10 blocks out of UAB's 14 total. Six of those blocks came in the huge third set for UAB. UAB jumped out to a 15-5 lead with kills by Mia Reese and Kelsey Smith.
The fourth set was a barn burner with six lead changes and 12 ties. Mia Reese led UAB with four kills in the set and she had eight for the match. UAB led 10-9 after a Page block, which got the crowd back into the match. There were a few ties before UAB got a 19-17 lead just needing six more points to force set five. Three straight USF points forced UAB into a timeout. The Bulls won set four 25-22 and won the match 3-1.

Mia Reese: Eight kills
Madison Page: 10 kills

UAB finishes the season 11-17 with a 6-11 conference record.
