The Blazers (6-8) opened the day with a 12-3 victory over Western Carolina in five innings. UAB then suffered a hard-fought extra loss to North Alabama, 4-0.

GAME ONE: UAB 12, WESTERN CAROLINA 3

A seven-run second inning lifted the Blazers to a 12-3 victory over the WCU Catamounts.
Β
Olivia Valbak broke the ice in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI double and the Blazers ultimately led 3-0 after one.

WCU got two runs back in the top of the second, but that is when UAB busted the game open in the bottom of the inning with seven runs.

Lindsey Smith's three-run homer to left gave the Blazers their first three runs of the inning as UAB batted around and eventually scored seven runs on seven hits in the inning for a 10-2 lead.

Five Blazers had multi-hit games against the Catamounts, including Smith, Valbak, Bella Wiggins, Alyssa Aguilar and Makenzie Droddy.

GAME TWO: NORTH ALABAMA 4, UAB 0 (8 INNINGS)

A pitcher's duel ending up seeing North Alabama score four runs in the top of the eighth inning for a 4-0 victory.

Both UNA pitcher Alivia Wilken and UAB pitcher Leigha Kirby went the full distance, and each held the other opponent scoreless through seven innings.

However, with UNA runners on second and third in the eighth, Sydney Harris had a two-RBI single up the middle, and Haven Kirby then blasted a two-run homer to give the Lions the 4-0 victory.

Kirby collected six strikeouts in the contest, but UAB was only able to manage four hits against Wilken who improved to 6-2 in the circle for UNA.
