Women’s Golf Places 10th at Golfweek Fall Challenge

BIRMINGHAM – Highlighted by a school record low round on Monday, the UAB women's golf team placed 10th at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in its first tournament of the season.

The Blazers shot 290-283-312 for a final tally of 885 (+33). UAB's 283 (-1) on Monday was a school record for the lowest team round by two strokes, which was set back in 2019.

Graduate transfer Lauren Gilchrist led the Blazers with a 21st place finish at +3 (71-71-74 = 216). Both Grace Sinclair and Brooke Wagner tied for 37th and had tough final rounds which dropped them 17 and 22 places respectively. Sinclair shot 71-72-79 (+9), while Wagner finished 73-69-80 (+9).

Freshman Chloe Ruble finished in a tie for 45th at +12 (75-71-79), while senior Anna Krieger tied for 80th at +29 (78-76-88).

Campbell won the tournament at -2, while Emma Bunch of New Mexico State was the individual champion at -7.

The Blazers are back in action next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 16-17 as hosts of the Hoover Invitational at Hoover Country Club.
