UAB Places 12th in Rain Shortened Johnie Imes Invitational

BIRMINGHAM – In a tournament that was only able to complete two rounds, the UAB women's golf team finished 12th at the Johnie Imes Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The third round was in its beginning stages when rain canceled the remainder of the tournament, making the standings final after the completion of round two.
Freshman Lauren Paige Slatton tallied her second-consecutive top 20 finish as she tied for 13th overall at +3. Slatton shot a four-over 76 in the first round, then fired a one-under 71 in the second.
Senior Anna Krieger also had a strong showing as she tied for 27th at +6. Krieger shot a 73 (+1) in the opening round, followed by a 77 (+5) in round two.
Grace Sinclair (76-78 = 154, +10, T47), Annika Gomeyac (84-78 = 162, +18, T72) and Chloe Ruble (83-79 = 162, +18, T72) rounded out UAB's lineup.
Missouri won the team title, while Cathryn Brown of Kentucky won the individual title at -7.
The Blazers are back in action on Oct. 13-14 at the Lady Red Wolves Classic hosted by Arkansas State.
