Blazers Fall 3-1 at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Despite a resilient defensive effort, the UAB women's soccer team (3-3-6, 0-1,3) fell 3-1 on the road to Charlotte (6-4-1, 2-1-1) Thursday night at the Charlotte Soccer Field.
The 49ers struck first in the 13th minute when Naroa Domenech netted a goal off an assist from Evie Craven. UAB quickly leveled the score six minutes later thanks to an own goal that tied the match at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The second half belonged to Charlotte, who continued to apply pressure with a 22-8 advantage in total shots. UAB goalkeeper Leah Parsons made six saves to keep the Blazers in contention, but the 49ers broke through late. Annabelle Walker scored in the 85th minute to put Charlotte ahead, and Megan Bradley added insurance in the 89th minute off a setup from Rory Brown.
The Blazers created opportunities with five corner kicks and three shots on target, including efforts from Avery Berryman, Lailah Stewart and Brielle Rochester, but Charlotte keeper Harlee Head turned away each chance.
Up next, UAB hits the road to Tulsa on Thursday, October 9. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
