Blazers Place 10th at Marquette Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM – Playing one of the nation's top golf courses at Erin Hills, the UAB men's golf team placed 10th overall at the Marquette Intercollegiate this week in Milwaukee.
The course played extremely hard as the winning team (Clemson) shot +20 for the title. UAB finished at +51.
Senior Erik Olin paced the Blazer by tying for 22nd overall (out of 90). Olin finished +10 for the tournament and shot a 77 (+5) in each of the first two rounds then was even par (72) on the final 18 holes.
Both Alvaro Huidobro and Morgan Slaton tied for 43rd overall at +15. Huidobro went 76-76-79, while Slaton bounced back from an opening round 82 with a 74-75 to close out the tournament.
Freshman Clipper Salmon was one shot behind Huidobro and Slaton at +16 which tied him for 48th overall (78-77-77). Alejandro Fierro rounded out the team effort in a tie for 62nd at +19 (83-78-74).
Playing as an individual, freshman Patrick Delaney tied for 48th overall at +16 (82-75-75).
San Diego State's Tyler Kowack (-2) won the individual title over Jack Turner (-1) of Florida as those were the only two golfers to finish under par for the tournament.
The Blazers conclude their fall schedule next week, Oct. 13-14, at the Everett Buick GMC Classic hosted by Little Rock.
