Jonathan Ericsson Leads UAB at Hal Williams Collegiate

BIRMINGHAM – Freshman Jonathan Ericsson led three players who shot under par this week at the Hal Williams Collegiate hosted by South Alabama at RTJ Magnolia Grove.
Ericsson was under par in all three rounds, which included back-to-back 68s to end the tournament. He shot 70-68-68 = 206, -7 which tied him for ninth place overall for his first collegiate top 10 finish.
Sophomore Morgan Slaton was one shot behind Ericsson, finishing the tournament at six under and in a tie for 12th place overall. Slaton (68-67-72 = 207) fell nine spots in the final round but still notched his third top 20 finish of the season.
Senior Paul Bruce (70-69-72 = 211, -2) was UAB's third player under par as he finished in a tie for 24th place overall.
Freshman Bernhard Koster (74-76-68 = 218, +5) tied for 58th overall and sophomore Will Stelt (73-75-72 = 220, +7) rounded out UAB's team efforts in a tie for 66th.
The Blazers(-12) finished sixth overall out of 13 teams and now have an overall record of 38-38-4 on the season. SMU (-25) outlasted Kent State (-24) for the team title, while Zachary Kingsland (-14) of SMU won the individual title by three strokes.
UAB is now off from competition for a month and returns to the course on March 11 at the Palmetto Invitational in Aiken, S.C.
