Blazers Finish 13th at Mid-Winter Invitational

JONESBORO- The Blazers finished in 13th at the Mid-Winter Invitational. The Blazers averaged 187.9 for the weekend.
UAB started the weekend with a 2-3 record on day one of the competition. The Blazers defeated No.14 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a great five-game baker set of 1127 and ended the day with a huge win against No.9 Stephen F. Austin University.
In traditional play, the Blazers fought hard all day on the difficult lane conditions but could not gain a win, bringing them to a 2-8 record going into bracket play.
UAB begins bracket play with two losses against No.11 Louisiana Tech University and No.13 McKendree University. The Blazers go on to win the final match against Alabama State University (4-1) for in-state bragging rights.
The Blazers had two standout bowlers this weekend. Madelynn Oliva averaged 186.0, and Jordan Shipp averaged 181.0, placing them both in the top 50 in individual standings.
UP NEXT
The UAB bowling team heads Dover, Del., for MEAC #2 to complete in-season conference play. The tournament will be held February 22-23.
