Blazers Continue Hot Start at Home, Sweep North Alabama on Sunday, 10-2

BIRMINGHAM - The Blazers (9-2) improve to 7-0 at home in 2025 as they win 10-2 on Sunday afternoon to complete the sweep over North Alabama (3-7).

Chase Ingram got the start for the Green and Gold in the series finale. The junior right-hander tossed six strong innings and allowed just one run on seven hits as he struck out five.

That one run came in the top of the 1st when UNA got the scoring started with an RBI single by Petey Kraska.

The first four Blazers reached base in the bottom of the 1st. Gavin Lewis Jr. singled and later stole second. Logan Braunschweig walked and Todd Clay reached on an infield single. Tyler Waugh drew a bases loaded hit by pitch to score Lewis Jr. Nick Hollifield would send Braunschweig home on a sac fly to put the Blazers up 2-1.

Braunschweig has now reached base in an American Conference leading 39 consecutive games.

UAB kept the offense going in the bottom of the 2nd. With one out, the Blazers had four more batters reach consecutively. Braxton Brooks drew a walk and Ty Mauldin singled to bring up Lewis Jr. The senior shortstop singled up the middle to score Brooks. After an infield single by Braunschweig, Clay recorded the Blazers' second sac fly of the day to score Mauldin to make it 4-1.

Neither team would score until the 6th inning when Ryker Billingsley hit a home run on the first pitch of the inning.

The Green and Gold would fire back with five runs in the bottom of the 7th. Mauldin led off the inning with a double and would be pinch run for by Alex Cheeseman. Lewis Jr. singled for his third hit of the day to score Cheeseman from second. Braunschweig singled up the middle to score Lewis Jr. from second. With the bases loaded, Tyler Harrington came on in a pinch-hit appearance and doubled home Landon Beaver, Waugh, and Braunschweig to open the flood gates and make the game 10-2.

Thomas Ballard relieved Ingram. The senior righty threw two innings and struck out five. Tyler Haines picked up the last three outs for UAB, picking up two strikeouts. The Blazers' pitching staff struck out 12 Lions on Sunday afternoon.

UAB hosts Auburn (10-1) at Regions Field at 6 p.m. on Tuesday night. Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for youth (16 and under) can be purchased here or on-site at Regions Field.
