Blazers Head to Greenville for First Pitch Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - UAB Baseball (10-2) returns to the state of South Carolina for the First Pitch Invitational in Greenville beginning on Friday, March 7. The Blazers begin the weekend with a doubleheader on Friday as they play Michigan State (9-2) and Winthrop (8-5). UAB's lone game on Saturday is against Cornell (3-2). The Green and Gold wrap up the weekend on Sunday morning with another game against Michigan State. The first three games of the weekend will be the first time the Blazers have played any of these three opponents.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers upped their win streak to four after a dramatic walk-off win against #22 Auburn on Wednesday night. The win was UAB's fourth ever against the Tigers.
MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS (BIG TEN)
2025 Record: 9-2
The Blazers open the weekend against Michigan State who serves as the host team this weekend. Three Spartans were tabbed with Preseason All-Big Ten Honors. LHP Joseph Dzierwa was named to the 2nd Team while INFs Ryan McKay and Randy Seymour were also honored. Dzierwa has been named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week two times this season.
This weekend will be the first ever meetings between UAB and Michigan State. The Blazers and Spartans will face off at 2:00 p.m. ET on Friday at Fluor Field. Follow the game live via StatBroadcast.

WINTHROP EAGLES (BIG SOUTH)

UAB plays Winthrop in the second game of the Friday twinbill. Both teams are coming off wins against ranked opponents on Wednesday night. Along with the Blazers defeating #22 Auburn, the Eagles won at #25 Oklahoma State, 9-3. Outfielder Koby Kropf was named Preseason Big South Player of the Year.
The Eagles were picked to finish sixth in the Big South this season. First pitch will be at 6 p.m. ET. Follow the game live via Statbroadcast.

CORNELL BIG RED (IVY LEAGUE)

Cornell took down a top 25 Duke team in its opening game of the season on February 21. Outfielder Max Jensen is coming off Ivy League Player of the Week honors.
