Blazers Compete in Troy and Gainesville

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Track & Field had stellar weekends at both the Doc Anderson Invitational in Troy and at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida.
TROY
Birthe' Franck-Petersen got her weekend started in the Hammer Throw. The senior finished with a mark of 49.92m and placed third in the event.
Mya McDanal won the Javelin Throw on Friday afternoon with a mark of 41.78m.
Victoria Freeland and Noelle Hambrick tied for second in the Pole Vault. The freshmen duo both vaulted to a mark of 3.65m.
Franck-Petersen broke her own school record in the Outdoor Shot Put, a record that only stood for a week. She placed second in the event this weekend with a mark of 13.86m. Christiana Mudd also placed fifth.
Corinne Ball placed third in the Triple Jump with a mark of 12.03m. The mark currently stands as the 91st best jump in D1 this season.
Hope Foster finished tied for second in the High Jump. The freshman jumped to a mark of 1.58m.
Mudd won the 100m Hurdles on Saturday night. The senior finished in 13.93, taking the crown by .04 seconds.
FLORIDA
Jasmine Dereje finished the 400m Hurdles with a time of 59.10. The time currently ranks as the third best time in the American Conference and in the top 25 in NCAA East. Leticia Quingostas finished in 1:02.23.
Taylor Washington finished the 100m Hurdles in 14.50.
The quartet of Jasmine Dereje, Gabby Washington, Leticia Quingostas, and Hannah Malone finished the 4x400 in 3:48.93.
The Blazers return to action on Friday and Saturday as the compete in the Crimson Invite hosted by Alabama. All schedules and meet information will be posted on uabsports.com at a later time.
