BIRMINGHAM – Senior linebacker Eddy Toussom enters year two at UAB and will compete for one of the vacant starting linebacker positions this season.
Toussom appeared in eight games last year and is eager to make his mark in 2025. Get to know more about Toussom with these five questions.
Q: What are your personal expectations entering year two at UAB?
A: I have big expectations for this year. After having a great offseason and spring I feel like I have a lot to prove this season.
Q: What is the vibe on the defensive side of the ball and how has the offseason brought you guys together?
A: It's a good vibe. We were very distant at first with all the new faces coming in, but going through what we went through in the offseason definitely brought us together. Our coaches believed that going through hard things would bring us together and offseason did just that.
Q: How would you describe your play and what do you bring to the linebacker position that fans can expect to see this year?
A: I would say I am versatile, that has always been a part of my game. Being able to pass rush, cover and stop the run, I can do it all so that's how I would describe it. I bring a lot of energy to the position so the fans can expect to see a ton of that and also expect to see me in the backfield a lot.
Q: What is an interesting fact about you that most people don't know?
A: That I speak French. I was born in Cameroon and a lot of people don't know that they speak French there.
Q: What are your career aspirations once football is over?
A: I want to get into the sports media world or behavioral psychology. I love sports which is why I want to do sports media, but I also love helping others and learning about the mind which is why I want to get into psychology.
