BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's soccer (2-2-1) put on yet another dominant display Sunday night, defeating Southern Miss (0-5-0) 5-1 at PNC Field. The Blazers defeated ULM 5-0 last Sunday and have scored five goals or more in back-to-back matches for the first time since 2014.

The Green and Gold set the tone early, with Avery Berryman finding the back of the net in the 12^th minute with an assist from Jette Zimmer. It marked Berryman's third goal of the season. Zimmer put the Blazers up 2-0 in the 19^th minute with her third goal of the year by a well-placed ball from Caitlin Keeling which was her first assist of the season.

Lola Sommer scored her first goal of the year in the 31^st minute with an assist from Berryman to give UAB a 3-0 advantage at halftime.

Early in the second half, Lauren Lucero scored a goal in the 51^st minute when Abbey Burns found Lucero to put the Blazers up 4-0. The goal marked Lucero's second career goal and Burns' first assist of the season. The Golden Eagles were able to get on the board off a penalty kick which was scored by Ryan Smith.

Senior Brielle Rochester found the back of the net for the first time in her career in the 70^th minute with an assist from Zimmer. It was Zimmer's second assist of the night and third of year.

UAB outshot Southern Miss 21-10 and nine of those being on goal for the Blazers compared to just three on target for USM.

Up next, the Blazers are back at home again to host Western Kentucky on Thursday, September 4. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
