Men’s Soccer Preview: Georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga. – The UAB men's soccer team is traveling for a non-conference matchup against Georgia State (1-2-2) on Monday at 6:00 p.m. CST.
Georgia State comes off of a tie against Lipscomb 1-1 in a game the Panthers double the amount of shots Lipscomb had (15-7). The Panthers one win of the season was against Winthrop 3-1.
Last week, UAB went on the road and dropped their first game of the American conference campaign at South Florida 1-0
American Weekly Honors
Ole Jessen received the Defensive Player of the Week Honors playing in all 180 minutes on the week, scoring two goals from his outside back position. Humphrey Doh grabbed American Conference honorable mention for his three assists against USC Upstate.
Scouting the Panthers
GSU is 23rd in the country in shots on goal per game with 6.80. Braiden Hall leads the team with six total on goal and two total goals. Tom Williams and Samir-Mohamed Djeha lead the team with two assists each. In goal, Loan Marin has started all five games playing in 450 minutes. He has 13 saves and eight goals against.
Series History
Georgia State leads the series 14-10-1 with the last result coming in August of last year. UAB won the game 1-0. Before the last matchup GSU had won five straight games.
Common Opponents
UAB and Georgia State will have two common opponents including USC Upstate who both teams have played already. UAB beat Upstate 3-1 while GSU tied the Spartans 2-2 at the beginning of the season.
