BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's soccer team (1-2-1) played to a 1-1 draw against Florida Gulf Coast (2-2-1) on Saturday night at PNC Field.

The Blazers struck first in the 27th minute when Tony Kim buried his first goal of the season off a setup from Mathias Loeve Groth, giving the home side a 1-0 edge at halftime. UAB carried a 5-1 shot advantage into the break.

FGCU responded after the interval, pushing numbers forward and finding more attacking rhythm. They found the back of the net in the 77th minute when Salvador Martinez Romo netted his first career goal, finishing off a feed from Edson Murguia to level the score at 1-1.

The Eagles outshot the Blazers 4-2 in the second half and finished with a narrow 52–48 edge in possession, but neither side could find a winner. FGCU goalkeeper Nicolas Leite came up with two saves on the night, while UAB's Tom Mabon was not forced to record a stop.

With the result, FGCU moves to 2-2-1 on the season, while UAB sits at 1-2-1.
