BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Humphrey Doh scored in the 84th minute to lift UAB men's soccer to a 1-0 victory over Temple on Friday night at PNC Field.
The Blazers (5-3-5, 2-1-3 American Conference) broke through in the 83rd minute when Doh found the back of the net at the 83:06 mark to give UAB the decisive goal. The goal was Doh's first of the season and proved to be the difference in a tightly contested conference matchup.
UAB controlled much of the offensive action, outshooting Temple (2-9-3, 1-5-1 AAC) by a 13-5 margin. The Blazers also held a 9-7 advantage in corner kicks while putting five shots on goal.
Defensively, goalkeeper Ethan Schulz recorded three saves to secure his third shutout of the season. The Blazers limited Temple to just three shots on target and kept the Owls off the scoreboard throughout the 90 minutes.
UAB generated several opportunities throughout the contest, including three saves forced from Temple goalkeeper Gavin Atkinson in the first half. The Blazers continued to apply pressure after halftime before Doh's late strike provided the breakthrough.
The victory moves UAB to 2-1-3 in American Conference play and 5-3-5 overall. The Blazers return to action on Wednesday as UAB travels to Springfield, Missouri to take on the Missouri State Bears.
