FLORENCE – UAB Baseball (2-2) scored a season-high 15 runs in Tuesday night's rout of North Alabama (2-2). The 15 runs scored are the most since April 19, 2025, vs. East Carolina (16). The Green and Gold also tallied a season-high 12 hits.
The Blazers jumped on the board first in their first at bat of the day. After a bases loaded walk by Landon Beaver and a pair of fielder's choice plays, UAB was up 3-0 after one half inning.
The Lions answered back with three of their own in the bottom of the second. Noah Rippen hit a 2-run home run to right field and Tait Nunnally singled to right to score Jackson Westmoreland to tie the game at three.
UAB would score the final 12 runs of the game which was spread out over the final five consecutive innings.
UAB's Andrew Hunt had a big day and the first of his RBI came in the top of the fourth when he brought Max Price home to put the Blazers in front, 4-3. Hunt later scored Brady Waugh on a sac fly to center to add to the lead.
The Blazers blew the game open in the top half of the sixth inning as the Blazers sent all nine batters to the plate in the inning. Kevin Hall Jr. singled, stole second and third and John Paul Head reached on a fielder's choice. Back-to-back walks plated another run for UAB. Wesley Helms' first hit of the season was a big one that scored Head and Beaver to put the Blazers ahead, 9-3.
UAB's seventh inning run came on a solo shot to right by Kevin Hall Jr. for the Blazers' first home run of the season. Max Price added to the lead in the eighth inning when he hit a solo home run to put UAB up, 11-3.
The final four runs of the night came across the plate in the ninth inning and sealed the 15-3 win for UAB.
UAB relief pitchers Carter Samuelson, Konner Keplinger, and Tyler Haines combined to shutout the Lions over the final six innings. Samuelson picked up his first career win on Tuesday as he went three scoreless innings in relief, struck out one, allowed one hit, and did not surrender a walk.
