Tulsa Rallies Past UAB in Fourth-Quarter Comeback

TULSA, Okla. – UAB women's basketball (10-16, 3-11 American) fell at Tulsa (17-9, 9-5 American) 59-55 after a Golden Hurricane fourth quarter surge on Friday night at Reynolds Center.

Sofia Munoz led the Blazers with 14 points on the night. Monae' Duffy registered 10 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.

The Golden Hurricanes were led by Hannah Riddick with 17 points while Mady Cartwright totaled 16 points and Jade Clack had 11 points.

Game Notes

Duffy recorded 10 points and 12 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
Duffy has tallied double-digit rebounds nine times this season and double-digit points 14 times this season.
Munoz was 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 at the free throw line.
Duffy and Munoz led the Blazers with three assists each.
Cali Smallwood and Jordan Rosier each added nine points to the stat sheet and Rosier's nine points matched her season-best for the third time.
Molly Moffitt recorded 10 rebounds and eight points on the night.
Moffitt matched her season-high 10 rebounds.
UAB shot 48 percent from the field, 31 percent from the three and 75 percent at the line.
Tulsa shot 35 percent from the field, 23 percent from deep and 60 percent at the line.
The Green and Gold outrebounded the Golden Hurricanes 37-31.
UAB carried a 33-19 halftime lead and controlled the tempo for much of the first three quarters.
The Golden Hurricanes capitalized on turnovers, scoring 26 points off the Blazers turnovers, a key factor in the comeback.
Tulsa struggled early but shot 56 percent in the fourth quarter.

How It Happened

Smallwood knocked down an early three to spark UAB's offense [3-2].
The Blazers used a 12-2 run midway through the period to seize control [15-9].
UAB had a five-point lead to close out the frame [15-10].
The Green and Gold exploded offensively, shooting 8-of-11 from the field in the period [20-10].
Duffy and Moffitt controlled the paint, combining for key interior baskets and rebounds [26-16].
Rosier's three-pointer with 2:09 remaining pushed the lead to 15 [31-16].
UAB had a 14-point advantage going into halftime [33-19].
The Blazers extended its lead to a game-high 17 points midway through the third quarter [40-23].
Munoz scored in rhythm to keep Tulsa from gaining traction [42-29].
The Golden Hurricanes began to chip away late with second-chance points and transition opportunities [44-33].
Despite the push, UAB still carried a 13-point edge into the final period [48-35].
The Golden Hurricanes shot 9-of-16 in the quarter to fuel a 24-point fourth quarter frame.
Tulsa opened the quarter on an aggressive run, forcing turnovers and attacking inside [48-41].
UAB struggled to make shots, shooting 27 percent in the period [55-50].
A decisive 15-0 Tulsa run in the closing minutes flipped the lead for good [56-55].
The Golden Hurricanes closed the game at the free throw line to secure the comeback victory [59-55].
