Men's Golf Starts Season with Top Finishes

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB Men's Golf team had a massive last few weeks, finishing 3rd at the Hal Williams Collegiate at Magnolia Grove Golf Club and had two of the top three finishers at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate.Β

Erik Olin finished -10 at the Thomas Sharkey event hosted by Georgia Southern University on Feb. 7-8. He shot a 65 (-7) during the second round with just one bogey on 18. In the same tournament, Morgan Slaton finished in 3rd place shooting -4. He shot a -5 second round with just one bogey on hole 13. Erik Olin was the American Conference Golfer of the Week because of his performance at this tournament.Β

The Blazers played their first team tournament on Feb. 10-11 at the Hal Williams Collegiate. UAB finished -14 with a 3rd place finish over conference opponents Memphis and Rice. The Blazers finished in front of three ranked teams (#58 Memphis, #57 South Alabama, and #53 Rice). Morgan Slaton finished tied with a -9, good enough for a 4th place individual finish. He shot two 66 (-4) during rounds one and two.Β
