BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Blazers Softball gave up four runs in the final two innings on Saturday, losing to Charlotte, 5-3. The 49ers clinched their first series win in conference play, while UAB lost its third straight, falling to 0-8 in American Conference play. Charlotte's pitching staff showed out again, combining for a six-hit win, allowing just one earned run.

The Blazers took advantage of errors to take a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning, but returned the favor later in the game with a pair of errors to score three unearned runs for the 49ers. Charlotte hit its second deep home run to the left field of the series to tie the game in the sixth inning. Then scored a pair of two-out unearned runs in the seventh inning.
