BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Softball fell 9-0 in its series finale against Charlotte. The 49ers scored in four innings and pitched a one-hitter, dominating the Blazers from start to finish. UAB struggled offensively, managing just one hit in 20 at-bats; Charlotte carried a no-hitter through the fifth inning. UAB had four base runners total, walking once and being hit twice.

The Niners jumped out to an early lead with a first-inning homer to left field, their third of the series. Charlotte drove in two more runs on back-to-back RBI singles, then added another pair of runs on an error, scoring four in the second inning. Caitlin Russell shut down the Charlotte staff in her 2.2 innings in the circle, allowing just one hit and working a pair of three-up-three-down innings.

Charlotte took advantage of a UAB pitching change to start the fifth inning, homering on the first pitch from Caroline McLendon. The 49ers would homer again later in the inning to go up 7-0.

Carlie Wilkins made her first appearance since opening weekend, working her way through the sixth inning scoreless. The 49ers, however, would score two in the ninth on an unearned sacrifice fly and an RBI single.

Davidson got the start and the decision for the Blazers, falling to 2-4. Davidson allowed five hits and five runs, three earned, in 1.1 innings.

Hannah Miles broke up Jones's no-hitter in the sixth inning with a lead-off knock through the right side. Miles was hit by a pitch in the third inning. She was the only Blazer to reach base multiple times.
