Perfect Weekend for the Blazers at the Stampede Beach Opener

UAB opened play Friday with a 5-0 victory over Stephen F. Austin (4-14), highlighted by straight-set wins on all but one court. The strong play continued against Sacramento State (11-12), as the Blazers secured wins on Courts 1, 2, 3 and 4 to earn a 4-1 victory.
On Saturday, UAB began Conference USA play by sweeping UTEP, 5-0, without dropping a set. The Blazers then faced their toughest test of the weekend against host South Florida, which entered the match on an 11-match winning streak.
UAB delivered standout performances on Courts 3 and 5. Olivia Chychrun and Ava Grace Knott earned a straight-set victory over Sasha Pasloski and Josephine Sek on Court 3, while Sadie Sharpe and Ashley Torsone defeated Morgan Anderson and Alyx Zapatka on Court 5. The win marked Chychrun's 20th career victory on Court 3, setting he UAB record for most career wins on that court.
On Court 1, Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant won a three-set match over Julia Panko and Cornelia Crudu. Haas recorded her 85th career individual victory and 79th on Court 1, while Stant moved into sole possession of second place on UAB's all-time individual wins list with 72.
The match was clinched on Court 2, where Pien Grooters and Virginia Voitier defeated Isabella Almeida and Zoey Mitchell in three sets.
UAB returns to action next weekend in Atlanta at the Diggin' Duals, hosted by Georgia State.
