Blazers Look to Gain Ground on Visiting UTSA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Softball opens a seven-game homestand with an American Conference series against UTSA. The Blazers trail UTSA by two games in the American standings entering the weekend, needing a sweep over the Roadrunners to climb into seventh place. With UAB and UTSA both ending the season with a pair of series against top-six American opposition, a 3-0 weekend for UAB could be enough to get the Blazers past UTSA for good.
The series opener is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Saturday is the perfect day for all your friends at the park, including your furry friends, for Bark in the Park. The series finale is a noon first pitch on Sunday.

- UAB lost its last series, 1-2 at Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane and Blazers traded run-rule victories on Saturday before Tulsa took the series on Sunday with a 5-1 win.
- Since moving to the lead-off spot, Ashlyn Shirah has hit .485/.553/.788 with 16 hits in 33 at-bats. Shirah has nine doubles, four doubles, four walks, and two homers in the 10-game span.
- Olivia Tindell entered the starting lineup due to other injuries. Tindell hit her first career home run in the Blazers' 13-1 win at Tulsa on Saturday.
- UAB ranks 122nd of 308 teams in the RPI. UAB is 0-5 in Quad-1 games, 3-3 in Quad-2, 5-11 in Quad-3, and 11-5 in Quad-4.
