BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB softball never held a lead against the Crimson Tide but remained locked in a scoreless tie after the opening inning. Alabama broke through late, scoring twice in both the fifth and seventh innings to secure a 6-0 shutout victory over the Blazers on Tuesday night. A crowd of 1,286 was in attendance, marking the largest turnout at a UAB softball game in the past two years.

Hannah Dorsett recorded UAB's first hit of the night, leading off her first at-bat with a single to break up the no-hit bid. Carlie Wilkins reached on an error in the second inning and advanced on a base hit by Jaycee Holt, but the Blazers were unable to capitalize, leaving both runners stranded.

Alabama's starting pitcher went the distance, allowing just two hits while striking out 10 batters. She closed out the game with three consecutive strikeouts in the seventh inning.

Caitlin Russell earned the start in the circle for UAB, tossing two innings. Caroline McLendon, Olivia Cummings, and Hannah Cole also saw action in relief.

Notables

Hannah Dorsett and Jaycee Holt accounted for UAB's only hits of the game.
The Blazers struck out 10 times, their highest total since March 18 against Mississippi State.
