UAB Falls to Tulane, Drops to Elimination Round Saturday

YOUNGSVILLE, La. - The No. 2 seed UAB beach volleyball team fell to No. 5 seed Tulane, 3-0, in the semifinals of the Conference USA Championships on Friday afternoon. The Blazers will face the winner of the match between No. 1 seed Florida Atlantic and No. 4 seed South Florida in an elimination match on Saturday at 9 a.m.
UAB dropped matches on Courts 1, 2 and 5. Olivia Stant and Jasmine Haas fell in straight sets, 21-18, 21-17, to Molly Trodd and Skylar Ensign on Court 1. On Court 2, Tulane's Emma Morris and Katie Hansen defeated Pien Grooters and Virginia Voitier, 21-16, 21-11. The Green Wave clinched the match on Court 5, where Avery Burks and Lauren Mann defeated Sadie Sharpe and Ashley Torsone, 21-18, 21-18.
The loss snapped UAB's 16-match winning streak and dropped the Blazers to 26-10 on the season. This was UAB's first loss since March 20th against No. 20 South Carolina.
