Blazers Cap American Championship with Season-Best Round

SARASOTA, Fla. – The UAB men's golf team placed fifth at the American Conference Championship, closing the three-day event with one of its strongest rounds of the season on Wednesday at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club.
The Blazers fired a 9-under 279 in the final round, marking the third-best team score of the day and one of UAB's lowest rounds relative to par this season. UAB finished the championship at 18-under 846.
UAB placed four golfers inside the top 25 individually, led by Alvaro Huidobro, who tied for ninth at 8-under 208. Erik Olin also finished inside the top 15 at 6-under 210, while Morgan Slaton surged in the final round with a 4-under 68 to finish tied for 14th. Alejandro Fierro rounded out the group, finishing tied for 25th.
The Blazers' final round push capped a consistent week against one of the league's strongest fields, as UAB recorded its best round when it mattered most to secure a top-five finish.
No. 22 Charlotte captured the team title for the second consecutive season, at 48-under 816, while Memphis' Diego Lourenco claimed medalist honors following a playoff.
UAB now turns its attention to postseason selections and the NCAA Championship field announcement.
