BOCA RATON, Fla. - UAB Softball was walked off in Boca Raton, dropping the series to Florida Atlantic with the 3-2 loss. The Blazers battled back from down 2-0 early to tie the game in the sixth inning, but a pair of seventh-inning hits were enough to edge the Owls past UAB. Friday's loss marks the first time UAB lost despite out-hitting its opponent.

Florida Atlantic got on the board early in the first inning with a two-run single to right field, scoring the Owls' lead-off walk and hit batter.

UAB cut the lead in half with a two-out rally in the third inning. Ashlyn Shirah singled to right, then moved to second on a Hannah Dorsett bunt single. Both runners were moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, but only one scored on a Madeline Flammia hard-hit ball through the left side.

Carlie Wilkins tied the game in the sixth inning with her fifth home run of the season. Wilkins's homer was on a 2-0 pitch that she placed into right field.

The Owls led off the seventh inning with a hard grounder up the middle, then replaced the runner with a pinch runner. Two batters later, Florida Atlantic pinch hit and doubled to left center field, giving the pinch runner enough time to score on the play.

Olivia Cummings thrw her seventh complete game of the season, going 6.1 innings for the Blazers. Cummings allowed three earned runs on six hits and one walk. Cummings struck out three Owls.

UAB out hit Florida Atlantic, 7-6, marking the first time UAB has lost a game when out hitting its opponent this season.
