BOCA RATON, Fla. - UAB Softball finished the regular season with a 5-3 win over Florida Atlantic, powered by Ashlyn Shirah's second grand slam of the series. Shirah's second-inning slam put the Blazers up early, giving them a large enough cushion to last the rest of the game.

The Blazers rallied to load the bases without a hit in the second inning. Olivia Tindell led off being hit by a pitch, then moved over to second on a Jaycee Holt four-pitch walk. Charlee Bennett reached on a fielding error, loading the bases. After seeing three straight balls, Shirah popped a 3-1 pitch to right, carrying over the fence for her second grand slam of the weekend.

Florida Atlantic responded with a run in the fourth inning, reaching on a lead-off single, then moving her around to score on a sacrifice fly.

UAB scored an insurance run in the sixth inning. Holt singled up the middle, then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and to third on a flyout. Dorsett singled to the shortstop, driving in Holt for a 5-1 Blazer lead.

Florida Atlantic scored a pair of runs in the seventh, reaching with a single and a walk. A single up the middle drove in both runners with two outs. A full-count grounder to second base sealed the win for UAB, snapping a six-game losing streak.

Caitlin Russell earned her seventh win of the season and 28^th overall in Green and Gold. Russell allowed just one earned run on three hits and three walks. Russell struck out three Owls.

Hannah Cole relieved Russell two batters into the sixth inning, forcing three straight outs to get the Blazers out of a two-runner, no outs jam. Cole got her third save of the season.

Shirah is the first Blazer to hit multiple grand slams in a season since at least 2018.
Shirah's eight RBI in the series are the most by a Blazer in a weekend since Sierra Frazier's 10 at UTEP in 2022.
Shirah now has 46 RBI on the season, the third most ever in a UAB season.
Shirah's 10th home run of the season ties for the 10th most ever in a UAB season.
Hannah Cole earned her third save of the season, tied for the sixth most ever in a UAB season.
