MONROE, La. – UAB women's soccer (2-4-1) scored twice in a span of just over four minutes to erase an early deficit and earn a 2-1 victory over ULM (3-4-1) on Sunday afternoon at Brown Stadium.

ULM struck first just 2:12 into the match when Ines De Lope Casanova found the back of the net off an assist from Charli Harris. UAB responded by controlling much of the remainder of the opening half.

The Blazers found the equalizer in the 28^th minute. Lauren Lucero set up Caitlin Keeling, who scored her first goal of the season to even the match at 1-1. Just four minutes later, Ava Metts put UAB in front with a goal in the 32^nd minute, which was her first career goal.

UAB carried the 2-1 advantage into halftime after outshooting ULM 9-5 and holding a 4-0 edge in corner kicks during the opening 45 minutes.

The Blazers continued to generate chances after the break, recording eight shots in the second half while limiting the Warhawks to just two. ULM put both of its second-half attempts on frame, but goalkeeper Macie Murphy stopped each to preserve the lead.

UAB nearly added to its advantage late, with Keeling forcing a save in the 76^th minute and Maia Sirota putting an attempt on target in the 84^th. The Blazers' defense did not allow a ULM shot over the final 20 minutes to close out the victory.

UAB finished with a 17-7 advantage in shots, including a 7-6 edge in shots on goal, and held 56 percent of the possession. The Blazers also earned five corner kicks compared to two for ULM. Keeling and Sirota led UAB with four shots apiece, while Keeling placed a team-high three attempts on goal.

Murphy played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded five saves to earn her first win of the season.

Up next, the Blazers travel down the road to face Samford on Thursday, September 10. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
