UAB Vice President and Director of Athletics Mark Ingram named Dylynn Miller (Otte) the seventh head coach in UAB beach volleyball history on June 3, 2026.
Miller spent the previous three seasons on the UAB coaching staff and helped guide the Blazers through the most successful stretch in program history. A 2024 recipient of the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Award, Miller played a key role in UAB's rise from a program-record 19 wins in 2024 to a then-program-record 21 wins in 2025 before helping lead the Blazers to a record-setting 26-win campaign and undefeated Conference USA season in 2026.
In 2026, Miller helped develop UAB's first AVCA All-Americans as Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant earned second-team honors. The duo established program records for single-season wins (29), wins as a pair (29) and Court 1 victories (29). Haas finished her career as UAB's all-time wins leader with 96 victories, while Stant ranked second in program history with 83 wins.
In 2025, Miller helped guide the Blazers to a then-program-record 21 victories while Haas and Stant established a program-record 26 wins as a duo at the time.
Miller also helped guide UAB to a school-record 19 wins in her first season on staff (2023-24), while assisting in the development of Arden Copping, who became the program's all-time wins leader at the time with 70 career victories.
Additionally, the beach volleyball program had the highest collective GPA of any team at UAB during the 2023-24 academic year and earned the AVCA Team Academic Award.
Miller joined the UAB coaching staff in September 2023 after concluding her playing career with the Blazers.
As a student-athlete, Miller competed for UAB from 2020-22, then Dylynn Otte, and served as team captain during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. She was a staple in the middle of the lineup, playing a versatile role as both a blocker and defender.
Miller compiled 24 career victories as a Blazer and remains tied for seventh in program history in Court 2 wins.
Following graduation, Miller spent one year working in the medical field within UAB's 1917 Clinic before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida, to train professionally in beach volleyball. While in Florida, she served as the NexGen Director and head coach for Optimum Beach Volleyball Club and worked as a private instructor with Edge Volleyball Training. Miller also served as a program coordinator for Alabama Performance Volleyball Club from 2020-23 while in Birmingham.
Miller was a four-year indoor volleyball player and two-year captain at SIU Edwardsville from 2016-19 before transferring to UAB for beach volleyball in 2020. She graduated from SIUE with a 3.8 GPA in public health and earned a 3.86 GPA in UAB's Master of Public Health program with a concentration in epidemiology.
