BIRMINGHAM, Ala.... UAB (5-17, 0-10 in Conference USA) fell to Saint Louis (11-12, 5-6 in C-USA) 15-6, 15-7, 15-5 in Conference USA volleyball action at Bartow Arena.
Sophomore outside hitter Missy Werges led the match in kills with 13 and posted a .367 hitting percentage and had six digs for the Billikens. Freshman setter Shannan Swiney contributed 26 assists and seven digs for Saint Louis.
UAB was led by freshman outside hitter/middle blocker Martina Shields who posted 11 kills and 11 digs on the match. Senior setter Heather Dempsey added 25 assists for the Blazers.
Saint Louis returns home Friday to face Conference USA rival Louisville at 7 p.m. (CT).
UAB travels to Tampa, Fla. Friday to face C-USA rival South Florida at 7 p.m. (ET).
