HOUSTON, Texas.... UAB (5-19, 0-12 in Conference USA) fell to Houston (17-5, 10-2 in C-USA) 15-4, 15-6, 16-14 in Conference USA volleyball action at Hofheinz Pavilion.
Freshman outside hitter/middle blocker Martina Shields led UAB with 10 kills, seven digs and three total blocks. Sophomore setter/outside hitter Dina Katsoulis added 19 assists and five digs for the Blazers.
Houston, ranked second in the NCAA Midwest Region, was led by senior outside hitter Bobbi Stewart who had 20 kills, 10 digs and three service aces. Senior setter Morgan Wallen added 40 assists and seven digs for the Cougars.
UAB returns home to Bartow Arena to face C-USA rival Memphis Wednesday at 7 p.m.
