BIRMINGHAM, Ala... UAB (6-23, 0-16 in Conference USA) fell to Southern Mississippi (12-18, 4-12 in C-USA) 15-9, 15-12, 15-10 in Conference USA volleyball action at Bartow Arena.
Junior outside hitter Laura Burke led UAB with nine kills and eight digs. Senior setter Heather Dempsey added 32 assists, hit for .571, had four kills and three digs.
Freshman middle hitter Kendal Reid-Webster had 15 kills, hit for .290 and had 10 digs for Southern Miss. Freshman setter Nicki Tribble posted 34 assists and six digs for the Golden Eagles.
UAB next travels to Charlotte, N.C. for the Healthy Choice Conference USA Tournament Nov. 16-19.
