Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at Beacon Woods Invitational

BAYONET PT., Fla. - The UAB women's golf team fired a third round 305 to finish in ninth place at the Beacon Woods Invitational with a 938 total. The event was held at the par 72, 6,015-yard Beacon Woods Country Club.
Ole Miss captured the team title with an 885 total, while South Florida's Fany Schaeffer took the individual title with with 215.
Freshman Brooke Mangan (Mornington, Victoria, Australia) finished the event tied for 27th (76-76-78/230) which lead the Blazers. Senior Heather Lourie (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) was next in line finishing in a tie for 29th place (76-79-76/231).
Other Blazer scores included junior Christina Gushanas (Pearland, Texas) with 80-80-76/236 (T40), sophomore Katie Kane (Baton Rouge, La.) with 83-83-75/241 (T49) and junior Jenni Elmore (Fort Payne, Texas) with 88-83-82/253 (57).
The Blazers will play in their last event of the season when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to play in the Alabama Capstone Intercollegiate on Oct. 27-28.
