Women's Golf Moves Up To Ninth Place

BAYONET PT., Fla. - The UAB women's golf team shot a second round 318 for a 633 total at the Beacon Woods Invitational Saturday. The tournament is being played at the par 72, 6,015-yard Beacon Woods Country Club.
After shooting a first round 315, the Blazers gained some ground as they moved up from their first round standing of 11th place.
Mississippi and Louisville are tied at the top of the leaderboard with 599, followed by South Florida (601), Tulane (603) and UCF (605).
Freshman Brooke Mangan (Mornington, Victoria, Australia) leads the Blazers after shooting two consecutive rounds of 76 for a 152 total and a share of 15th place. Senior Heather Lourie (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) fired a second round 79 to add to her first round 76 for a 155 total. Lourie sits alone in 29th place.
Other Blazer scores include Christina Gushanas (Pearland, Texas) with 80-80/160 (T43), Katie Kane (Baton Rouge, La.) with 83-83/166 (T55) and Jenni Elmore (Fort Payne, Ala.) with 88-83/171 (58).
Third round action begins early Sunday morning.
